There is nothing more rewarding in this job than visiting a garden a few months after completion and seeing how it has settled into the landscape. We recently finished a total transformation for Graeme in Ponteland, which involved everything from a new layout and bespoke paving to the installation of a custom water feature.
I always say that a successful project is built on trust. Graeme was fantastic to work with, allowing us to suggest tweaks to the original plan—like repositioning the shed and adjusting the lawn levels—to make sure the finished result was practically and visually perfect.
Graeme was kind enough to send over some feedback regarding his experience working with myself and my son, and I wanted to share his words here:
"It’s been a few months since you completed the complete transformation of my garden.
I wanted to put on record how delighted I am with the job you and your son did. My back garden has been completely transformed. It’s really improved my quality of life to be able to sit in my kitchen and look out on such a lovely garden. I also really enjoy sitting on my bench beside the water feature having a coffee, listening to the sound of running water and taking everything in. Even after just a few months the garden already looks well established.
When we initially met you took time to discuss what I wanted from my garden and came up with a plan I was really pleased with. I really liked all the ideas you incorporated into the plan. I had every confidence when speaking to you that you would do a great job and felt very comfortable in accepting all the suggestions you made. One of these was the colour of the paving. I had picked a particular paving stone but I am so happy that I went with the paving stone you suggested.
When you started work on the garden I was so impressed with the way you and your son worked—everything was kept tidy at the end of each day. I also really appreciated the way you kept me informed of what you were doing each day/week.
During the work you did on a number of occasions suggest tweaks to the original plan. One of these was to move the position of my garden shed. Another proposal was to completely replace the garden lawn so that the various levels in the garden tied in. I never had a moments hesitation in agreeing to your suggestions as I had complete trust in you. I should add that both these and all the other suggestions you made all turned out exceptionally well. I am also very impressed with the selection of plants you picked.
The undoubted highlight of my garden is the water feature which you had proposed. It is superb and as you said at the outset attracts a variety of different birds. I have had water features in previous homes but not one as spectacular as the one you built. I have always had issues with having to top up water features. During the summer months, even during dry spells, I have never as much had to put a tea cup of water into the pond which I think is testament to the way it has been built.
Taking account of all the hours of work that went into transforming my garden and the materials you supplied I think that the cost you charged was very reasonable. From my perspective I feel I have received excellent value for money.
It is not just me who is impressed. Family and friends who have seen my garden have all commented on what a difference it has made to my home.
